Title: Business Development Manager
FLSA: Exempt
Salary Range: $65,000 + fringe/benefits
Hours: Full-time
Reports to: Director of Partner Success

Summary Objective:
The Business Development Manager (BDM) is principally responsible for raising platform SaaS revenue and expanding Food Rescue Hero’s partner network business opportunities that allow the organization to achieve and sustain its mission. The BDM achieves these goals by creating and executing an ethical business  development strategy to expand existing relationships and identify and secure opportunities with new business partners. This individual will be responsible for maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders, regularly meeting and communicating with current customers and prospecting and generating new opportunities to increase revenue.

The BDM will demonstrate the ability to capture and grow new customers for Food Rescue Hero. This individual will also have an expertise in developing new customer relationships and work proactively to sustain and grow existing relationships.

The strategic goals of this position are to:
• Grow Food Rescue Hero’s partner network
• Grow Food Rescue Hero platform SaaS revenue
• Contribute to Product vision and support prioritizing features based on market needs

Metrics for success include:
• Achieve partner network growth targets by the end of CY
• Achieve platform SaaS revenue by the end of CY
• Develop sales pipeline for prospective partners
• Develop selling materials to showcase the value of the Food Rescue Hero platform

Essential Functions:

  • Collaborates with leadership and Product Development team to carry out the mission and goals of the organization.
  • Learn about and advocate for the people who use our platform.
  • Collaborate with Product to understand opportunities and align on strategy
  • Develops and regularly updates a comprehensive business development plan, with targeted goals, objectives, methods, and timelines to achieve organization sustainability and annual budget goals.
  • Identify business opportunities for new users of the platform.
  • Lead contract negotiations with new customers, and coordinate with internal counsel.
  • Builds partnerships and strategic alliances that will extend the organization’s brand in the community and increase avenues of support.
  • Work closely with Engineering to consider technical constraints and support implementation
  • Communicates clearly and effectively in all oral and written communications
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Qualifications and Experience - Required

  • Minimum of five years of fundraising/development experience in the non-profit industry and/or applicable background leading business development with SaaS products.
  • Demonstrated success leading business strategy development.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including demonstrated ability to work effectively with business partners, prospects and internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications and Experience - Preferred

  • Familiarity with technical product sales
  • Capability to lead and handle business development process to closure
  • Ability to negotiate agreements and contracts.

Physical Demands:
Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs repetitively (to support food recovery)

Work Location
The position is classified as hybrid with physical work location to encompass all of the following as directed by the supervisor: in-office, field and/or community, and work from home.
